new cotton project
Tekstina is one of 12 partners in an EU-funded project building a fully circular model for garment production.
The New Cotton Project is a European Union-funded initiative that proves circular fashion is not just a concept — it’s already happening. Bringing together brands, manufacturers, suppliers, and research institutes, the project uses cutting-edge technology to transform textile waste into new, high-quality fibre.
Tekstina is one of twelve partners covering the full supply chain. Over a three-year period, textile waste is collected, sorted, and regenerated into a new man-made cellulosic fibre that looks and feels like cotton — using Infinited Fiber Company’s patented regeneration technology. The resulting fibre is then spun into yarn, woven into fabric, and used by Adidas and H&M Group to design and manufacture finished garments.
The EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan has identified textiles as one of the sectors with the greatest potential for circularity. This project is a direct response — demonstrating that waste can become a resource, and that sustainable production at commercial scale is achievable today.
