URIM: High-Performance Arc Flash & Welding Protection
URIM is Tekstina’s proprietary technical fabric, specifically engineered for high-risk environments where electric arc flash and molten metal spatter are daily hazards. Unlike generic FR fabrics, URIM’s unique polyester-free composition ensures the material remains structurally sound even under intense thermal stress.
The “Polyester-Free” Advantage: In grinding and welding applications, fabrics containing a polyester surface often fail because sparks melt the synthetic fibers, creating holes and compromising safety. URIM remains undamaged during these high-heat tasks, providing a permanent shield that does not wash out or degrade.
Technical Performance & Testing:
- Arc Flash Rating: Available in multiple configurations including URIM-CN, URIM-PLUS, URIM-SPARK and URIM-FLASH.
- ISO 13506 Mannequin Test: Tested at Swiss Federal Laboratories (EMPA) with outstanding results: 0.0% 2nd and 3rd-degree burn prediction under a 4-second flame exposure.
- ATPV Values: Ranging from 10 cal/cm² at 175 g/m² to more than 60 cal/cm² depending on the laminate and lining combination.
- High Visibility: Fully compliant with EN ISO 20471 in high-visibility yellow and orange for low-light safety.
Sustainability: URIM GREEN At Tekstina, we believe protection shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. URIM GREEN incorporates a minimum of 24% recycled cellulose fibers derived from post-consumer textile waste (such as recycled denim and production scraps). This version maintains all multi-norm certifications while supporting a circular economy.
Ideal Applications:
- Power Management & Utilities: Critical protection for grid work and electrical maintenance.
- Rail Industry: Durable, high-visibility solutions for trackside safety.
- Welding & Metal Fabrication: Superior resistance to sparks and molten droplets.
- Oil & Gas: Reliable multi-hazard protection for petrochemical environments.
